FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Football Pros?
Football Pros is a specialist football betting service providing carefully researched selections across three different strategies: Original Football Lays, Handicap Football Lays and Goals Lays.
Our selections are designed for members who use betting exchanges to lay bets, but we also provide an equivalent conventional back bet for every selection. This means you can follow Football Pros even if you have never used a betting exchange.
What are the three Football Pros services?
We provide selections across three different football markets:
Original Football Lays – selections based around opposing a team in the standard match-result market.
Handicap Football Lays – selections using football handicap markets to give us additional ways of opposing teams at carefully selected prices.
Goals Lays – selections focused on football goal markets rather than simply predicting the match winner.
Together, they provide three distinct approaches rather than relying on one type of football bet.
Do I need a betting exchange to follow Football Pros?
No.
Although our selections are originally identified as lay bets, every selection is also accompanied by the equivalent back bet for members using conventional bookmakers.
You simply choose whichever method suits you:
Exchange member: Follow the advised lay bet.
Bookmaker member: Follow the corresponding back-bet alternative.
The objective of the selection remains the same.
How can a lay selection also be advised as a back bet?
A lay bet means betting on a particular outcome not to happen.
Instead of requiring every member to use an exchange, we identify the corresponding bookmaker bet that benefits from the same underlying match outcome.
For example, if our selection is:
LAY: Home Team to Win
A bookmaker member could instead back:
Double Chance – Draw or Away
Both positions are based on the same prediction: the home team will not win the match.
The odds and exact financial return may differ between the two markets, but the underlying football prediction is the same.
What is an Original Football Lay?
Our Original Football Lays oppose a selected team in the standard match-result market.
For example:
LAY Arsenal to win
The lay succeeds if Arsenal draw or lose.
For members using a normal bookmaker, we would advise the equivalent:
BACK: Draw or Opponent – Double Chance
So exchange and bookmaker members can follow the same underlying selection in the format appropriate for them.
How do Handicap Football Lays work?
Handicap Football Lays use handicap markets to create a different risk/reward profile from an ordinary match-result bet.
Instead of simply laying a team to win, a handicap is applied to one of the teams.
We clearly state the exact handicap and market with every selection because settlement can differ between Asian Handicap and European Handicap markets.
For bookmaker members, we provide the corresponding back-bet alternative alongside the lay instruction, so you do not need to calculate the opposite side yourself.
What are Goals Lays?
Goals Lays are based on the number of goals scored in a match.
Rather than opposing a team, we oppose a particular goals outcome.
For example:
LAY Over 2.5 Goals
is equivalent in outcome terms to:
BACK Under 2.5 Goals
Likewise:
LAY Under 2.5 Goals
can be followed as:
BACK Over 2.5 Goals
This makes Goals Lays particularly straightforward for both exchange and conventional bookmaker members.
Will you tell me exactly what to back if I don't use an exchange?
Yes.
There is no need to work out the opposite bet yourself.
Where applicable, selections can be presented in a simple format such as:
FOOTBALL PROS SELECTION
Exchange: LAY Team A
Bookmaker: BACK Draw or Team B – Double Chance
or:
Exchange: LAY Over 2.5 Goals
Bookmaker: BACK Under 2.5 Goals
For handicap selections, the exact equivalent market will also be specified.
Are the lay odds and back odds the same?
No. The selection outcome can be equivalent, but the prices are not necessarily identical.
Betting exchanges and bookmakers operate differently, and odds can vary between operators and throughout the day.
A lay bet also involves liability, whereas a conventional back bet involves a normal stake.
We therefore recommend checking the available price before placing any bet.
What does liability mean when placing a lay bet?
When you place a lay bet, your potential loss is called your liability.
For example, if you lay a selection at odds of 4.00 to win £10:
Potential profit: £10
Liability: £30
If the selection is beaten, you win the £10 stake, subject to any applicable exchange commission. If the selection wins, you lose the £30 liability.
This is why disciplined staking is particularly important when following lay betting strategies.
Do I have to follow all three types of selection?
No. Members can decide which selections and markets they are comfortable following.
Some members may prefer the simplicity of Original Football Lays, others may favour Handicap Football Lays, while others may prefer the Goals Lays market.
Members using traditional bookmakers can simply follow the corresponding back-bet instructions.
Why does Football Pros offer both lay and back instructions?
We want the service to be accessible to football bettors regardless of how they place their bets.
Betting-exchange users can take advantage of our original lay selections, while members who prefer traditional bookmakers can follow the equivalent back position.
It means you don't need previous experience of lay betting to become a Football Pros member.
One analysis. One underlying prediction. Two ways to follow it.
Are selections guaranteed to win?
No. There is no such thing as a guaranteed football bet.
Football Pros uses structured analysis and disciplined selection criteria, but losing bets are an unavoidable part of betting.
Past results do not guarantee future performance, and members should always bet responsibly and only with money they can afford to lose.
